Interactive Map of UK Monitoring Networks
The Ammonia, Nitric Acid and Heavy Metals networks are now integrated with Google Maps for easy look-up of monitoring stations.

UK National Ammonia Monitoring Network
The Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (Edinburgh) are engaged in monitoring both gaseous ammonia (NH3) and a number of air pollutants with which it reacts. The monitoring of NH3 and aerosol ammonium (NH4+) is conducted under the UK National Ammonia Monitoring Network. Following concern about the possible environmental impacts of atmospheric ammonia, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is supporting work to monitor the air concentrations of ammonia and ammonium across the UK.

UK Nitric Acid Monitoring Network
As part of the review of monitoring strategies for acidifying pollutants, Defra, has established a new network to monitor nitric acid and related species in the UK. This is within the context of EMEP, and forms part of the UK Acid Deposition Monitoring Network.

UK Heavy Metal Monitoring Network
The Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (CEH) operates a national monitoring network for heavy metals. In this site, you can find information about heavy metals, their potential for human health impacts and read about the scientific equipment we use to measure heavy metal concentrations in the atmosphere. This work is supported by the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the devolved administrations (Scottish Executive, National Assembly for Wales and the Department for the Environment in Northern Ireland).
